Selby Charity Plans Relocation to Market Cross
Selby Charity Plans Relocation to Market Cross
3 April 2023
After over a decade of supporting the local community, Selby Hands of Hope are embarking on an exciting journey by relocating to new premises at Market Cross.
The charity will be consolidating their two charity shops located on Gowthorpe and Brook Street to move into one modern, spacious shop within Market Cross shopping centre.
The new shop has received a recent face lift by the developers who have owned and managed the scheme for 18 years, Dransfield Properties, benefiting from a new traditional shopfront and full refurbishment to the interior following the departure of Access Selby.
Charity Coordinator, Ann Rhodes, said: “It’s fantastic news that as a not for profit business we are able to consolidate our retail offer into one unit, thereby reducing our overheads and running costs.”
“Our charity relies solely on the goodwill and generosity of residents within the district of Selby and their kind donations, coupled with the hard work of our staff, volunteers and Trustees. This is now more important than ever especially with the cost-of-living crisis we’re currently experiencing as each penny goes back into the community in order to help and support those in need.”
The charity and their team of staff and volunteers will continue with their mission to relieve financial hardship among people living within the Selby District by providing goods and services which they could not otherwise afford, whilst also adding to the centre’s retail offer with their range of pre-loved items.
The new shop will open later this month and can be found diagonally opposite The Works. The shopping centre, which can be found on Gowthorpe, has been undergoing continuous investment and improvements throughout the time Dransfield Properties have been at the helm, bringing new use to the first floors above the shops by introducing high-quality residential accommodation as well as installing attractive, traditional shopfronts throughout the centre.
Estates Director for Dransfield Properties, James Shepherd, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to provide Selby Hands of Hope a new home where they can continue their vital work supporting the local community.
“We have been part of the Selby community for 18 years now and are proud of what we’ve achieved so far with this development ensuring that the presentation of our shop frontages and public areas are attractive, modern and welcoming to match the fantastic products and services that can be found offered by our line-up of retailers.”
Market Cross shopping centre currently has two retail units available and all enquiries should be directed to Estates Surveyor at Dransfield Properties, Olly Jansen, on 01226 360644.
